The signature
The first spark
Aries is the 1th sign of the zodiac, spanning 0° to 30° of sidereal longitude. Its element is fire and its mode is cardinal, which describes how it begins, sustains and adapts.
Strengths
- Initiative
- Directness
- Resilience
The shadow
Impatience, especially with processes that cannot be hurried.
The ruling planet
Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of kriya · courage, drive, conflict. The condition of the ruling planet in a real chart is just as important as the sign itself. A sign is a climate; a planet is a traveller moving through it.
Nakshatras in Aries
The 27 nakshatras do not line up neatly with the 12 signs. Each sign contains two or three nakshatra segments, which is why two people with the same Moon sign can feel quite different.
