The lunar mansion
Skill · care · practicality
Hasta is the intelligence of the hand. It makes, mends and notices. It often carries craftsmanship, wit and a desire to be useful in tangible ways.
Where it sits in the zodiac
Hasta spans 13°20′. It begins in Virgo and ends in the same sign. Because nakshatras do not align with sign boundaries, a planet in a sign can be carrying the flavour of two different lunar mansions.
The four padas
Each nakshatra is divided into four padas of 3°20′. The pada adds a further layer of nuance and is used in divisional charts such as the navamsa.
Pada 110° 00′ Virgo — 13° 20′ Virgo
Pada 213° 20′ Virgo — 16° 40′ Virgo
Pada 316° 40′ Virgo — 20° 00′ Virgo
Pada 420° 00′ Virgo — 23° 20′ Virgo
The ruling planet
Hasta is ruled by Moon, the planet of manas · mind, instinct, belonging. The dasha sequence begins from this planet when your Moon is in this nakshatra.
